ABOUT GALA DEL SOL

Gala del Sol
is a Spanish-Colombian film director, screenwriter, and producer, whose stories revolve around fantastic realism and have a punk aesthetic with a tropical twist.

She was a finalist at the Student Academy Awards with her short film Transient Passengers (2018), her thesis from Chapman University.

Her debut feature, Rains Over Babel (2025), had its World Premiere at Sundance and its International Premiere at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam. The Hollywood Reporter listed Babel as one of the “TOP 10 HISPANIC FILMS OF 2025”, and Gala was included in Variety’s “10 COLOMBIAN DIRECTORS TO WATCH OUT FOR”.

She is currently developing her next two features: Moonchild and Ascension— films that explore myth, grief, and transformation. Gala is a member of the Colombian Film Academy and is represented by stayM88 in Los Angeles, CA.

She has been a teacher for over ten years.
